NL In navolging van de situationisten speelt Dérail een spel met de stad. Een aantal objecten wordt als een hand dobbelstenen de stad in geworpen. Ze maken de bestaande stedelijke infrastructuur onklaar en heroveren de publieke ruimte op de alledaagse patronen. De idee voor dit werk is ontleend aan Guy Debords Dérive, het dwalen door de stad met kans als richtsnoer. Net als door de situationisten wordt in Dérail het geweld niet geschuwd als een instrument om verandering te forceren.


EN Like the situationists Dérail plays a game with the city. Objects are thrown onto the streets and squares like a handful of dice. The objects sabotage the existing urban infrastructure representing our everyday patterns, and reclaim public space for new paths and perspectives. The work was inspired by Guy Debords concept of dérive: a wandering through the city led by chance. In Dérail, as prescribed by the French avant-garde organization Situationists International, violence is not avoided as a tool to force change.
