Als we in woorden voelen, Jos Blom

NL Als we in woorden voelen is een poëtische virtual reality ervaring van dichter Micha Hamel en kunstenaar Damien Albers. Voor het Literatuurmuseum ontwierp ik samen met Johan Nijhoff de ruimtelijke context voor deze installatie.

Bij binnenkomst is de ruimte fel verlicht door twee lichtbakken. Een zwarte lijn deelt de ruimte in tweeën. Bij het afzetten van de bril, is de ruimte donker. Daglicht sijpelt naar binnen door een cirkel van gaatjes. Na de afgesloten wereld van de virtuele poëzie dringt de echte wereld door deze gaatjes de ruimte binnen.

Omdat de installatie zelfstandig bediend moet kunnen worden hebben we het meubel bescheiden gehouden. De nadruk ligt op toegankelijkheid en bewegingsvrijheid. Daarom hebben we gekozen voor herkenbare non-high-tech materialen.

EN Als we in woorden voelen is a poetic virtual reality experience created by poet Micha Hamel and artist Damien Albers. Together with Johan Nijhoff I designed the spatial context for this installation.

Upon entering the room is brightly lit by two large led panels. A black line divides the space in two. After removing the glasses, the room is dark. Natural light seeps in through pierced holes forming a circle. The outside world penetrates the space as a counterpart of the closed off world of virtual poetry.

The focus of the stool lies on accessibility and freedom of movement. Resulting in a modest form using identifiable non-high-tech materials.
